4ld: ESC calibration

luca 02/11/2014 2

The kit I brought from RCTimer included 4 ESC running the SimonK firmware.

This firmware allows to calibrate the minimum and maximum values for the PWM signal. First you must connect the ESC directly to the receiver (bypassing the Naza flight board) on channel 3:

I also verified the motor direction of each motor, based on  the diagram included in Naza manual. To better understand the direction I applied a small piece of paper on the motors:

The calibration process is very simple:

  • with the battery disconnected, power on the transmitter
  • set the throttle stick to the top position
  • connect the battery and wait for the confirmation sounds
  • set the throttle stick to the bottom position and wait again for the confirmation sounds
  • now you should be able to use the stick to change the motor speed

If the direction is wrong simply swap two of the three wires that connects the ESC to the motor.

Here’s a small video:

Anche con Esc opto si usa questa procedura?? Grazie

se hanno firmware SimonK sì, l’unica differenza tra ESC normali e opto è che questi ultimi non hanno il circuito BEC (ovvero non hanno il regolatore a 5V).
